We provide a vast array of specialized services across our four Seattle locations. Although each facility may offer a sub-set of these services, SVA clients have access to any location for any service their pet requires to lead a healthier life.
Our services—which are administered by board-certified veterinarians and expert clinicians—include:
Annual Exams:
We provide a comprehensive annual exam as the foundation of a complete healthcare program.
Annual exams give us a chance to review past medical history, understand ongoing concerns, and investigate changes that may be occurring. We consult on routine care practices and provide education to owners on how to better train, groom, feed, and care for their pets.
In younger animals, annual exams are essential for early detection of possible breed or conformational problems. Cats and small dogs beyond 10 years of age, and large dogs older than 7 should be seen more than once a year, however, in order to identify hidden problems through blood testing or urinalyses.

Disease Prevention:
Administering wellness care before a pet becomes sick is essential to overall health.
By preventing disease through early involvement in healthcare, the overall burden is both less costly and ultimately more effective than waiting until your pet is obviously ill. Explore any of the numerous resources we have provided to help you care for your pet.
Also, annual pet examinations are among the most important ways to prevent disease through early identification and treatment.
So, if your pet is due for an exam, schedule an appointment today.
Vaccine Consultations:
We ensure that the latest vaccine protocols positively impact your pet.
Vaccine protocols and recommendations are continuously changing as new research emerges. They help to prevent disease, improve quality of life, and maximize longevity.
The annual exam is a perfect opportunity to learn about recent advances and then discuss with your veterinarian which approach might be best for your pet.

Lab Work:
Our in-house lab is fully equipped for everything from urinalyses to blood chemistry testing.
Additionally, we provide comprehensive lab services that are fully equipped and staffed for parasite identification, cytology, and bacterial and fungal cultures. This in-house lab allows us to provide both immediate or same-day laboratory results for many common tests.
We also use a regional veterinary lab and other specialty facilities to provide our patients with more comprehensive tissue and organ evaluations, bacterial and viral isolation tests, and immunological, histological, and cytological tests.
If your pet needs attention that may involve our expert lab services, schedule an appointment today.
Dentistry:
We promote oral health—from preventative dental work to radiography and extractions.
By preventing oral disease through early involvement in healthcare, the overall burden is both less costly and ultimately more effective than waiting until your pet has oral deficiencies.
Three of our facilities provide extensive dental services for patients of any SVA location. These include prophylaxis, examination of teeth and gums, polish and fluoride, sub-gingival curettage, root planning, therapeutic periodontal treatments, dental radiology, root canals (Green Lake only), and dental extractions.
If your pet is due for an oral health examination, schedule an appointment today.
Surgery:
Scheduled surgeries and emergency services both promote longevity and save pets' lives.
Most surgeries with SVA are performed at our Green Lake Animal Hospital, Northwest Veterinary Hospital or Ravenna Animal Hospital facilities during the week. Emergency surgeries are available at these locations Monday through Saturday.
Surgical services include sterilizations, biopsies and tumor removals, orthopedics, abdominal and thoracic surgeries, cryosurgery, laser surgery, and other specialized veterinary procedures.
We also work closely with local veterinary surgical specialists on more complicated procedures such as total hip replacement, tibial plan leveling osteotomies, ear ablation, spinal and neurosurgery, and procedures requiring specialized instrumentation.

Anesthesia:
We develop individualized anesthetic plans based on breed, age, and medical status.
Our full range of anesthetic services is formulated by our veterinarians based on each individual pet’s needs. Balanced anesthesia provides the best selection of sedatives, pain medications, local and regional treatments, and inject-able or inhaled general anesthetics.
Only veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians administer anesthetic agents, and aggressive monitoring continues through recovery using respiratory and cardiac monitor tracking modalities and methods. We also enhance circulation through warm water and pads and forced air-warming blankets.

If your pet must have surgery to improve its health and needs anesthesia as part of that process, we can help. Schedule an appointment today.
Pain Management:
Preventative pain management and comprehensive programs help pets find comfort.
A complete pain management program addresses both acute and chronic pain. Preventative pain management for surgical and procedural pain is tailored to the patient, the degree of pain expected, and the individual pet’s medical status.
A chronic pain management program, for conditions like osteoarthritis, will be selected by the veterinarian. It involves periodic re-evaluations and monitoring of the condition and organ systems.
If your pet needs our pain management services to feel better, schedule an appointment today.
Radiology:
All our radiographs are evaluated in-house and then sent to radiologists for further review.
Our extensive radiology services are provided to all SVA patients at all of our facilities.
We provide skeletal and soft tissue studies as well as specialized contrast studies. Board-certified veterinary radiologists review all our radiographs after we provide initial reviews in-house. This additional layer of review provides us with timely and accurate diagnostic interpretation of each study.
If your pet must have radiology services, we can help. Schedule an appointment today.
Oncology:
We create individualized chemotherapy protocols that are administered by expert technicians.
Chemotherapy often offers an alternative or complementary approach to cancer. The goal is to provide longevity to our patients without decreasing their quality of life.
Each patient is evaluated comprehensively before the veterinarian provides an individualized protocol and client instructions. Our highly trained staff administers the chemotherapeutic agents.
If your pet must have oncology services, we can help. Schedule an appointment today.
Cardiology:
Radiographs, electrocardiograms, and Doppler are among our tools that promote heart health.
Cardiology entails many areas of diagnosis and treatment of heart problems. We typically provide cardiac services spanning a physical exam, thoracic radiographs, an electrocardiogram, laboratory blood analyses, an echocardiogram, and Doppler.
In all cases, a board-certified cardiologist evaluates and recommends treatment options for these patients.
If your pet needs cardiology services, we can help. Schedule an appointment today.
Ultrasonography:
We evaluate internal organs and tissues through this non-invasive diagnosis tool.
Our ultrasound examinations provide a non-invasive diagnostic tool used to evaluate internal organs and tissue structure. We use this to evaluate the size, shape, location, internal structure, and differences in organ and tissue density for urogenital and gastrointestinal systems, as well as for evaluating the status of pregnancy.
Our ultrasound images are recorded and reviewed by a board-certified veterinary radiologist, who also provides more involved ultrasounds and biopsy services as-needed. (Ultrasound-guided biopsies provide a precise and less-invasive means of obtaining deep-tissue samples for evaluation).
If your pet needs an ultrasound, we can help. Schedule an appointment today.
Endoscopy:
We examine and biopsy respiratory and gastrointestinal systems with this procedure.
We provide this procedure—which uses fiber optics—to internally examine, evaluate, and biopsy the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems. Our trained staff also may used endoscopy to remove some foreign bodies from the upper GI tract.
Our doctors perform endoscopic treatments on patients, though board-certified veterinary internists may also administer the procedure.
If your pet needs an endoscopy, we can help. Schedule an appointment today.
Neurology:
We evaluate trauma, nervous system, and behavioral changes with our neurological expertise.
Diseases of and trauma to the nervous system are relatively common. Symptoms like lameness, weakness, paralysis, seizures, or behavioral changes may merit a neurological review. We administer these through an exam, diagnostic tests such as contrast radiography.
At times, they present a diagnostic challenge, so a board-certified neurologist and neurosurgeon works with us on more difficult cases.
If your pet is presenting symptoms that may require a neurological exam, we can help. Schedule an appointment today.
Tonometry:
Caring for sight is the key outcome of this instrumentation, which measures eye pressure.
Tonometry is instrumentation that allows us to measure intraocular pressure – the pressure inside the eye.
Glaucoma is a common and painful disease characterized by increased pressure, and, often, it can lead to blindness. Early detection is key.
Preserve your pet’s vision by scheduling an annual evaluation, particularly if your breed is predisposed to glaucoma. Schedule an appointment today.
